The University also provides a limited number of hostel accommodations for graduate students. However, provate accommodation is easily available around the campus, with rental that fit a students budget. Monthly rental could range between approximately RM100.00 (US$25.00) for a room and RM400.00 (US$100.00) for a house.
Facilities for Postgraduate Students
Lecture Theatres & Tutorial Rooms
For the purpose of teaching and learning activities, the University provides lecture halls, examination halls, classrooms, seminar rooms. These fully air-conditioned rooms are equipped with teaching aid equipment.
Transportation services such as bus and van services are provided to off campus students. These services allow the students to commute to the campus from 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. every day.
Cafetaria and Canteen
There are many cafeterias and canteens within the vicinity of the university for staff and students to have their meals from time to time.
The mosque and Islamic Centre Complex are equipped with administrative offices, the Al-Farabi seminar room, the Al-Khwarizmi computer room, the Harun Al-Rashid resource room and other buildings support activities related to worship and spirituality.
A Bank Muamalat Branch with ATM facilities is located at the Student Service Centre near the University Health Centre. The branch offers opening of accounts, cheque deposits, as well as on-site consultation. There are also Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) from Bank Muamalat, BSN and Agro Bank near the Dataran Anggerik Bus Stop.
Mini Post Office
In cooperation with Pos Malaysia, a mini post office was set up to serve the needs of the staff and students in the campus. It offers one stop payment centre, postal order, registered letter and parcel services.
Sports & Recreation
Among the sports and recreational facilities provided by the university are a stadium with track and field facilities, a football field, a rugby field, a mini hockey stadium, netball courts, handball courts, volleyball courts, sepaktakraw courts, badminton halls, basketball courts, and squash courts.
Medical and Health Services
The University Health Centre provides health and medical services especially for emergency and outpatient treatments. There are 2 doctors and 2 medical assistants who work hand in hand with 8 paramedic staff. The centre also provides an ambulance service for emergency cases.
The laboratories set up are fully equipped with machines and the latest equipment to enhance students’ understanding, competency and potential in the course of their study in the technology and engineering fields.
The new library building has a seating capacity of 3,000 users and it provides a spacious and conducive study environment with 100 carrel rooms, 40 discussion rooms, 2 seminar rooms, a post graduate research room, an auditorium, a closed reference room, a journal room and a 24-hour- reading room.
There are hostels available within the campus and other hostels located a few kilometres away from the campus. Those hostels can accommodate up to 7000 students, and also provide facilities such as wifi service, a mosque, a cafetaria, rest rooms, study rooms, magazines, cyber cafe, photocopy kiosk and others.
Student Service Kiosk and Cooperative Shop
Student service kiosks and cooperative shops sell basic necessities to students such as stationeries, computers, books, food, newspapers, snacks, food and drinks.
Career and Counseling Services
The Student Counseling and Development Centre is responsible in providing counseling services on career and self development of the students. There are three certified counselors who are capable of conducting various programmes to prepare the students with certain competencies that are required for their careers.
Most of the students receive financial assistance mainly from the Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Nasional (PTPTN), the Public Services Department and the State Governments. Corporate companies such as PETRONAS, MAYBANK and State Foundations also provide financial assistance to students. The financial assistance offered range from RM5,000 to RM7,000 per year.
